Thanks for the advice...I'm hoping I will be able to follow through with cutting him loose this time. The "dry run" for the date thing would piss me off a little from the perspective that it's supposed to be "your" day together - seeing all these sights together for the first time makes it a bit more special for both of you...so him practising in advance with a female friend kind of takes the sheen off it. On the other hand, he probably has the best of intentions...feeling that if he gets to know the city in advance he'll be able to make the date more fun/interesting for you.
